recently i had the pleasure of consulting and assisting on the planning of ikea's flagship store in korea. based in sweden during the initial process with further work to be carried out in korea later in the year.
it is vastly important in establishment of a new market that a thorough investment in its culture and customs is carried out, and equally that a brands concept and values are accurately represented.
the store will be located in gwangmyeong in gyeonggi province but will still be classified under the vast sprawl of korea's supercity seoul.
korea represents a great opportunity for ikea and i'll be looking forward to supporting the rest of the process. with a lot of experience already in china, it will be interesting to compare the neighbouring countries cultures and customs with my own eyes (and lens).
