pagoda arts has developed a cross culture collaboration between music and sign language. jasmine flower fusion is an arts council backed project that blends a chinese traditional folk song with british grime dub step. combined with a mixture of british (bsl) and chinese (csl) sign language, their performance is a powerful combination of elegance and innovation.
my role was to support the project both artistically and editorially, documenting the key points of the project and providing reference material the children could learn from. during the course of the project i filmed at the shanghai no 4 deaf school, liverpool signing choir, pagoda chinese community centre and finally at the liverpool philharmonic hall as part of the dada festival in 2012.
